Sozopol – A full-day shore excursion to one of the most picturesque, fascinating and romantic coastal towns in Bulgaria, founded by Ancient Greeks in 6th BC. The city is divided into the Old Town and the modern section. The Old Town is justly renowned for its romantic atmosphere, thanks to its narrow cobbled streets and venerable old houses. Visit the Church of the Holy Virgin, built in the 15th century, a cultural monument under protection, with valuable icons and an impressive wood-carved iconostasis. See the numerous small chapels built over the foundations of churches destroyed during the Ottoman rule.
In 2010, during archeological excavations on the nearby St. Ivan Island, researchers unearthed holy relics of St John the Baptist. They are displayed in the Church of St St Cyril and Methodius.
